New Englanders Fight Back Against WBZ Cuts

BOSTON – This morning, the Save WBZ 1030 campaign launched a new petition drive in response to news reports of major cutbacks at Boston’s legendary WBZ NewsRadio 1030.
 
“These cuts at WBZ are as questionable as benching Malcolm Butler during the Super Bowl,” said Ben Goodman, coordinator of the Save WBZ 1030 campaign. “Listeners are again speaking with one clear voice: iHeartMedia cannot balance its financial future on the backs of WBZ employees, listeners, and high-quality news and information.”
 
Concerned listeners are encouraged to visit SaveWBZ1030.com and sign the petition.  Each signature is shared with iHeartMedia management and WBZ advertisers.
 
Last fall, nearly 1,000 listeners mobilized in only thee days to successfully urge iHeartMedia to honor existing contacts for long-tenured WBZ employees at SaveWBZ1030.com.
 
Both campaigns follow the same model by the same organizers that successfully overturned a corporate decision to halt local overnight programming on WBZ in 2009.
